Meepo

Guide for Geomancer / Meepo Dota

Geomancer

Well i started using geomancer after seeing a friend really pawn me big using geomancer. As any first timer using Geomancer, i was a big noob using geomancer. Then i looked up certain sites and i realised that geomancer is actually a very imba hero if played correctly.
Geomancer is a very weak early game hero. It can get very easily pawned early game if not played properly. My style of playing geomancer usually involves playing it as a support till level 7, then playing it as a semi-carry till 16. Once i reach level 16 with the other enemy heroes also around the same level(in case of games that are going bad for me) then i farm away the aghanim's scpeter and pipe. It provides a huge advantage in the team fights. usually its just one team fight that geo needs to win to become imba. This is cause each meepo gains experience individually. So in a team gank if your ally gains some experience you usually gain 2-3 times the same amount of experience. This is also the reason why meepo has a level difference of 3-4 levels by the time it reaches level 16
Well Lets start off with the Guide....

EarthBind

Level Mana Cost Cooldown Casting Range AOE Duration Effect
1 100 20 seconds 500 225 2 seconds Traps Enemy Units
2 100 20 seconds 750 225 2 seconds Traps Enemy Units
3 100 20 seconds 1000 225 2 seconds Traps Enemy Units
4 100 20 seconds 1250 225 2 seconds Traps Enemy Units
Okay as we can see the earthbind skill has a very imba range at level 4 (1250). Alsi its AOE is good enough thus allowing for some relaxation of accuracy on part of the player. It traps all enemy units in the area. This means that you can trap multiple enemy units. If you manage to net a group of enemy units, you net them continuously until you reach there and then poof away when you are sufficiently close to them.

How to use the Earthbind skill

Remember Geomancer is different from other heroes in one way. It has meepo's So while other heroes have to control just one hero you have to control five of them. Use your tab key ti full effect. When you have your first meepo selected and you press the TAB button then your second meepo gets selected (provided ofcourse that you have selected all of the meepos and grouped them , this will be covered later) . To continuously earthbind an unit keep pressing tab+e+ta+e+tab+e+tab+e.......

Advantages of Using EarthBind

  • It disables heroes from using blink (like Rikimaru, Anti-Mage etc.)
  • Disables enemy heroes from beoming invisible (like Rikimaru, Gondar, Clinkz etc)
  • Prevents Mirana from Leaping away
  • Does not work on magic immune units.
  • Does not work on Roshan.

Poof

Drawing mystical energies from the earth, Meepo can teleport to another Geomancer, leaving destruction in his wake. After channeling for 1.5 seconds, Meepo instantly teleports to nearest target Geomancer, dealing damage in the departure and arrival locations.
Level Mana Cost Cooldown Casting Range Area Of Effect Duration Allowed Targets Effects
1 80 14 Global 375 N/A Geomancers 50 Damage
2 80 12 Global 375 N/A Geomancers 80 Damage
3 80 10 Global 375 N/A Geomancers 110 Damage
4 80 8 Global 375 N/A Geomancers 140 Damage

Mentions

  • Damage type is Purely Magical
  • When used, the meepo teleports to the nearest meepo in the area where targeted leaving damage at the places where it was and where it arrives
  • If Poof is used on self then meepo will teleport to same place dealing dual damage
  • Can Teleport to lllusions

Geostrike

The Geomancer enchants his weapon with the essence of the earth, crushing the life from his enemies and numbing their legs. Slows target movement speed and deals damage per second. These effects are additive with other geomancers. Lasts 2 seconds.
Level Mana Cost Cool Down Casting Range Area Of Effect Duration Allowed Targets Effect
1 N/A N/A N/A N/A 2 seconds Enemy Units 5% slow, 5 damage per second
2 N/A N/A N/A N/A 2 seconds Enemy Units 10% slow, 10 damage per second

Divided We Stand

Meepo summons an imperfect, semi-autonomous duplicate of himself, which can gain gold and experience as he does and shares his experience and abilities. However, the clones cannot wield any items but the boots that Meepo himself wears. If any of the clones die, they all die.
Level Mana Cost CoolDown Casting Range Area Of Effect Duration Allowed Targets Effects

  • Only Boots transfer to the Meepo's
  • The boots may be phase boots, BOT, PT etc..
  • The clones of the original meepo gain 25% extra more of the primary attributes
  • * --> the * indicates the number of meepos when we have Aghanim's Scepter
  • Even if you didn't skill this ability, picking up Aghanim's Scepter will still provide you with an extra clone.

Tactics

Early Game

Early game Geomancer is a very weak hero. Typically it is better to choose a side lane, especially the safe lanes.
The safe lanes are the bot Lane for Sentinel and The top Lane for Scourge
As geomancer is a very weak hero in the early game it is advisable to play it as cautiously as possible. Geo's initial stats are not that great hence it is better not to push much into the lane. Indeed i would recommend to deny as many creeps as possible and get the last hits on the enemy creeps as and when possible.
This ensures that you are as close to your tower as possible for possible tower hugs. The reason that i have provided the geostrike skill so early in my skill Build is cause of its slow in early game can be devastating for some heroes especially if they do not have boots.
Against 2 Range

If you are pitted against two ranged heroes it is the worst possible scenario for geomancer. Stay as back as possible, get those occasional last hits and deny as much as possible. Remember that geomancer farms more than any other hero in Dota in mid game. Thus just stay within 1200 range and gain experience and reach level 6 ASAP . Once you reach level 6 it is easier for you to farm up your core items .
Against Two Melee

This is the best scenario for geomancer. This is because Geomancer gets a chance to stack up his core inventory ASAP. Once geomancer stacks his core inventory he can go for the kill. Ofcourse if you are with a better ally in your lane you can go for the kill much before. Ensnare is a very imba entrapment and disable. Farm up your gold and try try to deny your creeps to deny them the experience and the gold.
Against a Melee and A Range

This is a situation that is mixed. It depends on the opposite heroes and also on the player ability. It Can be a lethal combo against geomancer. People usually target Geomancer early game because
  • easy to kill
  • micro hero

Mid Game

Geomancer's mid game usually starts at level 7 when his poof is 'max'ed out. and it extends until level 16-17 depending on the game. Geomancer is one of the best mid game heroes. He usually reaches Level 11 in the mid game and he gets 3 meepos. Once you get 3 meepo's go to the forest if you are getting a bad harass in your lane. Farm your gold uptil your core items. Then call some allies and go for Aegis Of Immortal Once you get the aegis you can be the initiator of the team battles. Remember you have meka so it is important to use Meka at the right time. Do not use it only when your meepo/ally is in Red HP. Use it when your ally/meepo is half HP . This is because Mekansm Provides all affected heroes with +2 armor that lasts for 25 seconds. Also it heals the heroes for 250 HP. Seeing an enemy hero go from half HP to almost full HP scares the **** away from most players and they start running. Once they start running it is easy to just net them and poof away.

Late Game

If your game is very long and has stretched beyond a long time. Usually it might make sense getting rid of the aegis for a pipe/veil at this point.

How to kill Invisible Units Using Geomancer

Geomancer can easily kill Invisible Units . Wonder how? Just dont allow it to be invisible. Keep netting it again and again and it will prevent heroes from becoming Invisible.

How do i control 5 geo's?

People usually get confused on how to control 5 heroes together. It is really simple . Select all your controlled units. Press down Ctrl and then press down '1'. (Instead of 1 you can select any other key on your keyboard that you want according to your convenience.) +1 me :) !!
